Teaching Assistants to have new standards

The government has announced that England’s state schools are due a new set of standards for their teaching assistants. The standards are being drawn up to make the most of the teaching assistant’s skills and expertise, as they have previously been labelled as not making effective use of school budgets. The review panel creating these standards have included teachers and teaching assistants, an approach praised by the general secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers.
