Rise in term time holidays

Since the government’s ban on term-time holidays, there has been a sharp rise in fines for parents who have taken their children out of school during term time. According to local authority data, there have been almost 64, 000 fines issued since the law changed in September 2013. Parents are fined £60 per parent per child, rising to £120 if the fine is not paid on time. Full BBC article.
